IBC Totes | IBC Tanks

Intermediate bulk containers (IBC) have standard transport pallets with an easy-to-assemble rectangular footprint providing multidirectional maneuverability for transport operations. IBC containers are accessible via jacking in two ways if needed. IBCs feature base bases that maintain their footprint and dimensions at an average global pallet size for acceptance, versatility, and integration.

IBC totes and IBC tanks have a wide variety of materials that they can be made with. They often vary in material based on the sides and use cases. For example, 330-gallon IBC totes are usually only made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with a galvanized steel cage or entirely of polyethylene with a polyethylene base.

Both options should be BPA-free and generally considered food-grade safe, though it is always important to verify this before using it for such purposes. These polyethylene IBC totes are UV resistant, leading to a long life and high durability. They should also have passed a stacking test load before you attempt to stack them. IBC totes made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) must meet standards that qualify them to be FDA-compliant.

IBC handling specifications | stacking IBC containers

IBC totes are designed to stack when stored or transported and when filled. IBC totes and intermediate bulk containers can create stacks from 2 to 3 high, some up to 4 in varying situations. The stackability depends on how they perform for a stacking test load and if they are empty or full of material. A tall full-scale stack is generally recommended on smaller-sized IBCs. Most large capacity IBCs can be used for three high stacking when empty; four high empty stacking is often recommended for storage in small sizes.

Poly totes made of high-density polyethylene are known for their ease of transporting chemicals, food oils, and other liquids. Each IBC tank can feature stacking lugs to help you use space efficiently, especially with appropriate alignment; you can be more cost-efficient with your shipping methods and reduce freight costs.
